The VISIONARY Study is testing an investigational drug which aims to target the root cause of IgAN and manage the symptoms of the disease.

We are inviting you to take part in a clinical research study for adults with IgA nephropathy. All study-related care will be provided by specialized doctors, nurses, and a dedicated study team at no cost to you or your insurance. In addition, those who take part in the study may receive compensation for their time and travel.

Consider joining the VISIONARY Study-Targeting a brighter future for IgAN patients.

You may qualify for the VISIONARY Study if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Have been diagnosed with IgA nephropathy, confirmed by kidney biopsy

What happens if I sign up? We will match you to a study site in your area that needs volunteers with IgAN or notify you when one becomes available. The study team will then contact you and you may have the opportunity to participate if qualified.

If you think you might like to participate in the VISIONARY Study or would like more information, please enter your information below so we can see if you may qualify and can contact you about the study. Keep in mind that participation is entirely voluntary. If you do decide to take part in a study, you may change your mind about participating at any time.

About IgAN

IgA nephropathy, sometimes called “Berger’s disease”, is a common kidney condition that occurs when a certain antibody builds up in the kidneys, affecting their ability to properly filter waste.1

For many people, symptoms of Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy (IgAN) don’t show up until the disease has progressed and can sometimes not appear for years. Many experience:

  • Decreased urination
  • Fatigue
  • High blood pressure
  • Swelling/edema
  • Headaches
  • Nausea and appetite changes

Unfortunately, there is no cure for IgAN. Most care providers will prescribe medication to help manage the symptoms of the condition.

The VISIONARY Study is testing an investigational drug which aims to target the root cause of IgAN and manage the symptoms of the disease.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a clinical research study?

A clinical research study (also called a clinical trial) is a medical study that helps to answer important questions about an investigational drug–these may include how well an investigational study drug works for a certain condition. All medications must be tested in clinical research studies before they can be approved and prescribed to patients.

A clinical research studies is the process by which new and innovative medications, interventions and treatments are approved and brought to market, so people can live happier and healthier lives. Even over-the-counter medications, such as NSAIDs, you may have used to counteract a headache, have gone through the clinical research study process before it was available at your local pharmacy.

The VISIONARY Study is testing an investigational drug which aims to target the root cause of IgAN and manage the symptoms of the disease.

The investigational drug (or placebo) will be administered as an injection every 28 days. A total of 26 doses will be administered over the duration of participation.

This is a Phase 3, multicenter, randomized, global trial to evaluate the efficacy of an investigational drug administered to subjects with IgAN.

Subjects will be enrolled from up to 300 global sites in approximately 32 countries.

The total study duration for each subject will be approximately 2 years.

Participants who qualify to take part in the study may receive compensation for time and travel. Please discuss this with the study team when they contact you.

There is no cost to participate in the VISIONARY Study. If you decide to take part:

  • All study-related care will be provided by a team of experienced doctors and nurses.
  • All study-related visits, tests, and investigational drug will be provided at no cost.

The research team will be able to explain more about what the VISIONARY Study will involve, and it is up to you to decide if you want to take part. Participation in this study is voluntary. Whether or not you decide to participate in this study will not affect your current or future relationships with your doctors. If you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw at any time without affecting those relationships.

We match you to a study site within a close travel distance from your home, however most visits, after the initial visits, may be conducted remotely for your convenience. If we are not running the study in your area currently, with your permission, we will keep you in our database and reach out once a study in your area becomes available. If, at any time, you decided you no longer want your information stored, you can opt out and we will delete your details.
